Welcome to Riverside ~

March 4th, 2010

Dear Parents:

What an exciting time here at Riverside. Not only have many of our classes had Olympic activities going on but many of our students have been coming to school in red and white, cheering on Team Canada! Our Kindergarten students have also just celebrated their hundredth day in school. Yesterday Ms. Hoogstins and Mrs. Chapman had their students participate in a variety of exciting activities that focused around the number 100. Please be sure to pop on in and check out the FANTASTIC 100’s day projects that are displayed on the bulletin boards.

As you may be aware that report card time is just around the corner for second term report cards will be issued the last week of March. If parents have any concerns regarding their child please ensure that you call and set up an appointment with your child’s classroom teacher.

In regards to school closure, all student transfer forms for students currently in Kindergarten to Grade 6 were handed to the designated schools. At the end of March all parents will be notified if they have been successfully accepted in to the school of their choice. In early April (Dates to still be announced) the staff at Riverside would like to provide the opportunity for parents to come in and discuss any student needs that need to be shared to help ensure a smooth transition. We are also in the process of planning two days (one in May and one in June) for students as a whole to attend their new schools. More information regarding these two days will be sent out after spring break. We do understand that this transition may be more difficult for some of our students and may require more support. If you have concerns about your child’s transition please ensure that you share these at your individual meeting or with your child’s support teacher. The staff at Riverside is committed to ensuring the best possible transition for all of our students.

All Grade 8 high school registration forms have been submitted to the school board office.  Student registrations will be confirmed by March 18th.

Have a great spring break!!
